[Big Pix] VaraRam install
Stock setup
Removed stock box
Put the front of the car on ramps. I do not drive onto the ramps. I lift the front and slide the ramps under the tires.
Removed shroud
Reversed the bottom clips holding the Z06 screens. I painted the top of the clips black so they can’t be seen through the front of the grills.
Ram tubes
Installed the scoops to the bumper. I shimmed them to fit my car, 5 up top, 3 on the bottom. I also put extra washers under the bolt heads to protect my bumper. This pulls the bolts away from the front of the bumper.
Scoops come up under the hood.
Finished system. I replaced the supplied 4mm Allen head airbox bolts with heavy-duty ¼” x 1 ¾” hex head bolts from Home Depot.
Thats awesome. I want to do that to mine soon. I also like how you can get to the grilles with the shroud removed. Looks like I will be putting them on at the same time. :yesnod:

Re: [Big Pix] VaraRam install
>>How long did it take??
It took me longer than it should have. I had to lift the car and take the shroud out a second time because I did not like the way the system was shimmed at first. I removed some shims from the top and it lined up better. I also had problems getting the shroud to hook up under the top crossover bar. Lastly, I had to run out to Home Depot to get different bolts for the airbox because the 4mm allen head bolts it came with were not acceptable to me. I stripped one of them and had to cut it off with an air cut-off tool.
Total install time was probably about 6 hours over two days. If I did the job again I could probably do it in about 3 hours. If I rushed I could probably do it in 2 hours next time, but I never rush auto work.
>Did you cover the openings for the fog lamps
>since you don't have them?
I am installing PIAA 1100x lamps on the car. If I were not installing driving lamps I would leave the lamp holes open because they will let air get under the hood.
Damn i was just wondering what that looked like installed, and BAMN!! here it is! Thanks for posting that man! That shroud removal is not as bad as it seems is it?
I've been thinking of getting a VaraRam setup but I'm not sure I can use it because I have a AccuSump tank mounted below the front frame rail. Do you have a pic showing both Ram airtubes installed pictured from below?

It is pretty easy to get that out. You have to bend the shroud and the bottom of the front bumper to get it out. Just don't forget the two white plastic stud-clips that hold the shroud to the AC Condensor. I popped the clips off the condensor, removed the metal rings holding them to the shroud, and then twisted the clips back onto the condensor. This picture shows one of the white plastic clips, with the metal ring removed.
When you put it back in make sure you hook the top end of the shroud under the lip of the plastic radiator top crossover support. I had to use a long thin screwdriver to do that.

Sorry, but no. My camera lens will not go wide enough to do that.
Those are great pics. I am wondering if now that this is installed will you have to pay extreme attention to puddles if caught driving in the rain? Did you experience any SOTP increases and what are the mfr's. claimed hp increase??
Please explain where you used 1/4 x 1 3/4 bolts in lieu of the 4mm Allen head airbox bolts. I can't figure that part out. Do these bolts hold the new airbox in place at the same location where the factory box was fixed?
Great pics A very timely thread since my Vararam is sitting on the dining room floor waiting to be installed. Any chance you can come over and install mine next
