For a battery whose Free Replacement portion of their warranty is 4 years, the Die Hard Platinum series AGM is a no-brainer compared to an Optima AND it has higher RC and CCA to boot.

I am told by my Sears store that the Platinum is no more - discontinued.
Replaced by "Advanced Gold" series, which unfortunately has only a 3-year replacement warranty. Cost for me is $178 with local tax and environmental fees (Group 78), plus I have to drive 50 miles to pick it up and another 50 miles to return the core (or pay $20).
The Optima Red Top 78 from Jet.com costs me $129 delivered to my home.

If that is now the case then I will order an Odyssey PC1500 34/78DT next time. It's the same battery, as they were the ones manufacturing them for Sears.

Looks like I also will be buying the Odyssey battery when my present Platinum gives out...........
Yep. I also checked Diehard.com (or something close to that), which is also a Sears site, but any battery request for info gets a permanent, circling, "downloading" symbol that never loads.
The Odyssey units (of all types) are still being manufactured in their (parent company Enersys) plant in Missouri AFAIK.
