My '03 has started to generate some muted popping or cracking sound when I make slow turn to the left. I think it comes from the front end suspension or steering link somewhere.
When the weather is warm, it is worse. Aski I can make it do the same thing if I am starting to move / accelerate on an incline.
I searched the forums and only found vaguely similar issue, but not quite the same, I think.

The easiest thing to check for would be your tie rod ends. Depending on how many miles you have it could be time to replace them. Sway bar end links are another thing that comes to mind.
My vote is sway bar end links
With weight on the tires (like on the ground) you
can "hit" them with your hand and any looseness or feeling at
all will tell you they are bad or good
