Hello all,
I have a 99 vette 6 speed with kooks long tube headers..my question is how hard is going to be to change out the drivers side motor mount.I noticed this problem about 2 yrs ago but did not seem to bad, so i have been putting it off,but recently I noticed that it seems oilier than usual,at first I thought it may be oil from somewhere else,I did not know that these motor mounts had oil in them.It seem that the top nut would be hard to get to..have not looked at the bottom nut yet.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks..Donnie

you may or may not be able to get them out with the headers in place, just depends since they are all routed different... sometimes you can get a long extension between the primaries to get the top nut off, then you have a nut on each side under the bottom of the cradle and now the mount will be loose... from here what I prefer to do is unbolt the mount pedestals from the side of the block and this makes the mount much easier to remove... there are 3 bolts on each pedestal and you may need to jack the motor up slightly to get enough clearance from the top of the mount stud to get the bottom bolt out... if all of this is doable with your headers in place that's great but if not then worst case you might have to remove the midpipe and unbolt the headers and just let them hang, I don't think you will need to completely remove them but if you can easily get them out of the car then you will have even more room to work with
