Default Tech 2 Bleed !!!!!!!!

1. 1999 Coupe bought in May of 2014 with 50,000 miles one owner completely stock, was serviced very well fluids changed, etc.
2. March 2016 /// 67,000 miles many mods, replace brake hoses with steel braided.
3. Gravity bled

all 4 corners as I replaced hoses.
4. Attached power bleeder and install hoses on all 4 bleeders to reduce chances of brake fluid going where I didn’t want !!!!
5. Attached Tech 2 followed someone else’s post on the steps (don’t remember who)
2. Powered on the Tech 2. Tech 2 passes power on self-test
3. Turn ignition to on position, did not start engine
4. Opened Tech 2 main menu The screen shows:
• F0 Diagnostics
• F1 Service Programming System
• F2 View Captured Data
• F3 GM Performance Parts Diagnostic
• F4 Tool Options
5. Selected F0, Diagnostics
6. Selected Model year (2000)
7. Selected Passenger Car
8. Selected F2 Chassis
9. Selected Product Line (Y) “establishing communication” seen on screen
10. Screen displayed: CAUTION: “ABS Braking is not available when ABS/TCS lamps are illuminated” (Note: I had no Codes related to the ABS or TCS and no light on the dash)
11. Pressed the “continue” key selection. The right-most softkey was highlighted.
12. Screen Reads: “Chassis”
• F0 ABS/TCS/Magnasteer
• F1 RTD
13. Selected F0, ABS/TCS/Magnasteer
14. Screen Reads:
• F0 DTC
• F1 Data Display
• F2 Special Functions
• F3 Snapshot
• F4 ID information
15. Selected F2 Special Functions
16. Screen Reads: (Note, I think I should have a function key at this step for Automated Bleed, but it is not there)
• F0 Automated Test
• F1 Solenoid Test
• F2 TCS Test
• F4 TCS Switch Information
• F5 Steering Position Sensor Test
17. Selected F0 Automated Test
18. Screen showed ready for test and a softkey highlighted for CONTINUE.
19. Pressed CONTINUE softkey
20. ABS pump activated for a second or two, and the car beeped twice, so I know the Tech 2 it talking to the car.
6. Then just followed the steps the Tech 2 showed, as you followed the steps you can hear and feel the pump and actuators cycling !!!!!!!
7. told me I was done !!!!!

My take !!!!!!! the fluid in my system was dark but did not look very contaminated, after the bleed process I am comfortable that my active handling is trouble free !!!! (had no issues to begin with, but never had to test on the road)
8. my opinion is a car that is subject to extreme conditions (hot and cold) may build up more condensation in the brake fluid thus rusting the EBCM parts ????
9. I purchased the Clone Tech 2 for this function alone, have now used it for various things and so glad I bought it !!!!!

Sorry about the rear I had the tires back on before thinking of pic's !!!

Very nice and thorough writeup!!!

I just have a question, at the end of the string of menu selections you had to select "automatic test" and "that" did the bleeding, or after the test is done it asks you if you want to do a bleeding?

It's kind of confusing for them to call it a "test" instead of a "procedure"...

It was someone else's procedure(posted here) it does say automated bleed !!!!!! It tells you to start at the right rear, begin test, open bleeder, then you hear the pump, then each wheel actuator, then says close bleeder, open bleeder, close bleeder, then to each wheel !!!!

Do you or anyone else know what the purpose of the Solonoid test ?
Should it be used together with a powerbleeder to flush the EBCM solonoidvalves properly ?

I am Norwegian and my english i not perfect

I did a writeup my work in the forum of the Norwegian Corvette Club .(page 2)
In this thread I attached photoes of the Tech 2 screens I used .
But unfortunately the words are only in Norwegian

Actually my pump ran quite a few seconds as well as all four actuators !!!!!! That is why I am confidant that my active handling is working !!!

I'm looking to do the same, buy a TECH II. I have air somewhere that won't come out with a vacuum bleed, causing me to double pump every braking event. Lame! Plus, I want to rebuild the calipers, polish the bores & pistons, and install SS lines.

Can you recommend where to purchase a reliable TECH II ?

PM SG LOU, he just bought one,he tried from the site I bought mine and had issues, or you could still try the site ???
http://www.aliexpress.com/?src=nb&af...www.google.com

I had gravity bled mine after each line and had a hard petal, but on the first bleed using the Tech 2 on the right rear I got some air !!!!

Thanks for the right up pounder I just bought a tech 2 . Set it up and tried it this last weekend seems to work good. Brake bleed is the first thing I'm going to try with mine. As for as where to get one I bought mine at carucare. With shipping it all came out to about 500.00 dollars. My only complaint I have is the tis 2000 software is only compatible with windows xp. I tried loading it on windows 7 but it was 64 bit and would not work. Luckily I had an old laptop lying around that I could use. For the most part so far it looks like a very useful tool to have.
