I have a set of headers on their way and need to buy some gaskets, I'm not wanting to use the ones supplied. I know you can't go wrong with the factory GM gaskets, but do you guys prefer those or the Percy's "dead soft" gaskets?

I reused my stock ones when I put my BBK shorties on with no problems. Then I went with Hinson Long tubes, So I bought new ones. Twice reused did not sit right with me

Well I bought my car with shorty headers on it already so I don't know if they used the factory gaskets, the gaskets that came with the pipes, or something else. So for piece of mind I am buying new.
Newer LS1 gaskets have 'D' shaped ports that match the exhaust ports on the heads. The 'D' shape doesn't seal well with the round ports on the headers. The 1997-2000 LS1 exhaust manifold gasket with round "O" shaped ports work best. The posts in the link below describe the problem.
