HUD not lighting up?
So I recently bought a C5 and I am just getting around to checking out what's wrong with the HUD. I just assumed it was the "falling" problem, so I removed it today. Mechanically, it looks fine. I hooked it back up, and the adjustment motor does work, and the mirror does move. But I can't see any light coming out of it.
Do I just have a bad unit and need a new one? I'd hate to shell out the cash for another one just to hook it up and not work. Is there any way to bench test it to make it light up at all?

I am also interested in gaining more info on this system. I use mine at night or in conditions of low light and love the fact I do not have to remove my eyes from the road to see how fast I am traveling. Mike

Are you sure the intensity is turned up? It's the slide ****,, in the up position it is at full intensity.
also, if you're wearing polarized sunglasses it is difficult to see.

Yup, that's how I knew something was wrong in the first place - when I couldn't see it from the driver's seat.
So, after I removed it, and verified that the pivot pin isn't broken, I hooked it back up, and looked directly at the LCD screen (since it has to be plugged in, I had to stand outside the car and look through the windshield to get the right angle).

I bought another HUD and hooked it up - no dice. Mirror still moves fine, but no lights.
Anyone that says removing the dash is easy is a liar. Maybe if you are comparing it to a college thermodynamics exam...

Im narrowing down this issue to something happening to either wires connection or bOard from removing the cluster or the HUD unit itself it stayed upright the whole time it was removed though both the HUD and the HUD controls illuminatrd before so this is very frustrating!
