Rattling noise at idle.....normal?
That being said I have a noise that sounds like deflated lifters at idle especially when cold. Its not that bad but it is noticable, sounds like one maybe two from the driver side bank.
The car also seems to "shake" a bit when idling like it has a big cam in it.
I got this used but it only had 6500 miles on it and a service history query shows that it had the re-ring done at about 4500 miles.
This is my first LS1 and was wondering if this is normal behavior.
If it only makes the noise on a cold start, it may be the solenoid cycling...the one that scavanges the vapors from the charcoal cannister. The solenoid is located near the front of the left bank, so that fits the symptoms.
I guess you could unplug (for diagnostic purposes) it and try a cold start and see if it goes away.
Good luck.
