Hi guys, was hoping I could get some help with my z. First I just want to say thanks in advance for all the great things everyone posts on here and the forum members willingness to help people. It is refreshing to goto a website now-a-days and actually get help. Now, on to my car... I have an 02 Z06 with a custom tune, cam, intake, exhaust, long tubes, and a few other mods which if important I can provide as well. When I returned from a recent deployment it started giving giving numerous codes. I took it to a mechanic here in Tucson, who said that the harness had gotten close to the headers. As well as it had a bad MAF. They eventually troubleshot that the PCM was bad as well. Changed all. I get the car back and it runs great for 3 days before symptons came back, this time limited only to P codes. Apparently one of the 02 sensors got too close to the exhaust and the pigtail melted to exhaust, bad luck I guessed. Took the car in and fixed up. Discovered in that process that the previous owner had customized those to be a 6 wire o2 off a maxima (had no idea prior). Replaced. Car ran great for a day then started tripping numerous PCM codes again, listed below:
P0102C
P0412C
P0418C
P0443C
P0449C
P0803C
I cleaned the grounds in the engine compartment today to rule those out. The only one I didnt get were the ones on the engine (105,106,107 on diagram in electrical post). At a loss and looking for advice on where to direct the mechanic - i think they are just shotgunning at this point. Again thanks for any help ... Semper Fi...
Jon
None of these new codes are ABS or traction Control related
P0102 is a MAF code ( can be a false code most often)
P0412 and P0418 are both secondary air codes--(most often caused by LT headers or clogged air valves)
P0443 and P0449 are EVAP codes ( very common on older cars)
Finally P0803 is for the "skip shift function" again common on older cars--
IF your car seems to be running perfect---Then your best bet would be to simply have a tuner (even mal order) permanently delete ALL these codes so the do not reappear
They are all most likely false codes from age and all your mods---It would be very expensive to diagnose and repair all these issues when in fact there is nothing wrong just being an older car----
The only one I would maybe check out would be the MAF code--Anyone with a scanner or data logger can verify if your MAF is working---But most MAF codes will result in a "reduced power mode" If your car is running fine and not going into reduced power chances are it is a false code as well---- A mail order tune is only $150 here on the forum
