Default ::My MTI heads/cam...

Well, most of you Houston guys know I am in town for the install, but I thought I would start a thread here to tell everyone about the gains that I realize from the package.

Let me start by saying that I pulled the car 707 miles to MTI to get the work done. It was a long way, but Jayson's professionalism and MTI's competence is truly un-matched. I know this for myself only after making the haul. It was truly worth every mile I traveled.

I am getting their stage II heads, C2 cam (224/224/581/581/112) and a pulley. The base line numbers were 338rwhp/353rwtq. The mods at the time of the baseline were, flp headers, Halltech tric, Getrag 3.73, and B&B cat back. I would really like to hit the 440 rwhp mark, but I am not sure it will happen. 420 rwhp may be more realistic. The car will be dyno tuned tomorrow and I will post the numbers and my initial driving impressions.

Definitly keep the threads coming as MTI is right now doing the head work for the 422 Stroker to put in my 98 PaceCar. Isn't it exciting.

Well, here is the deal...

The car now has the following:

FLP LT headers (No cats)
Route 66 cat-back
Halltech Tric
Getreg 3.73
C2 Cam (224/224/581/581/112)
Stage 2 MTI LS1 heads
LS1 Edit

Max RWHP was 422

Max RWTQ was 398

Keep in mind that the gear hurts the dyno number a little. Without the gears I am sure the car would crack 430 rwhp and maybe 435.

The car now pulls hard to 6600 whereas it fell on it's face at ~5600 prior to the heads and cam. The sound is awsome. I am heading home in the morning, and I will post some video and dyno graphs over the weekend.

Kerry

Let me know what you think of that C2 cam, how does it idle, any surging, how is it on cold and hot start-ups, is it very lopey and/or shakes the car. I want to maintain very good drivability but also would like more power and this cam looks like a good all around choice. And I also would like to see the dyno graph when you get a chance. Thanks and congrats. Im sure it was a very nice ride home after getting that done.

Kerry was kind enough to let me ride w/ him and let me say it's awesome. He nailed it and thru the gears I could not lean forward in the seat. G's feel great due to his tq and gearing. Has a more lopey idle (reminds me of cruising the Sonic Drive-in in 1970:D ) than my B1 cam, but hey, it's a more aggresive cam :yesnod:

Well, I have put about 60 miles on the car now. This afternoon it started throwing codes. The first was a P0171, which is a lean left front bank. I cleared the code 12-15 times but it would come back in a matter of mintues.

After talking to Jayson we felt the it could be a bad O2 sensor.

Tonight I swapped the the right and left o2 sensors. Within 3 mintues of starting the car it threw another code. This this it was a P0174, which is lean right bank. Do you think this is just a concidence or is it possible that something made the 02 go bad? Anyone know the part number for a front 02 sensor?

That sucks dude! Hope you can get it resolved. I'm sure MTI will stand behind everything although 700+ miles is a long ways!

Good luck!

Justin-
I drove 60 miles today and did not throw any p0171 or p0174 codes. I am hoping the issue is resolved. Just in case I have borrowed Screamin Demon's auto tap. I will get some data and send it to Jayson.
