Starter replacement 2001 Automatic
I know there is always short cuts in doing jobs and replacements.
So I ask you any shortcuts we can use replacing my friends starter. I know the manual says to drop the exhaust to gain excess to the starter.
The car is convertible! Yes we have lift to use, so we aren't laying under the car.
Any help before we tackle it would be appreciated from my members of the forum.

I can't believe nobody replaced there starter, considering what GM wants to charge!

I dropped my exhaust to replace the starter on my 2001 with stock manifolds. I did mine on jack stands and it was not bad, but time consuming. I did purchase new nuts for the exhaust studs and went back with together with the new nuts.

I recently replaced my starter, and yes you have to drop the exhaust pipes to get clearance to remove and install the starter. I unbolted all six flange bolts and the two bolts that attach the pipes to the car frame, usual problems are the exhaust studs use a penetrating oil to prevent breaking them.
