I will be doing a header install shortly on a 58,000 C5. I will also be installing new motor mounts to get maximum engine stability as well as maximum clearances for the headers. This will be an 90% street, A4, 3.42 rear, and soon to be centri. FI car at a little over 600 FWHP.
Questions:
1. What would you suggest in the way of motor mount material for this application? Solid, Poly, stock, etc. Mostly street driven but also interested in performance, just don't want a buzzing, vibrating car.
2. I know some headers can be a pain for fitment. If I run into clearance issues with new mounts I am thinking I might do a solid, flat washer style, 1/8 to 3/16 max thick spacer under the mounts to create a smidgen more clearance. Has anyone done this? What is you opinion?
I asked the same question, had answers all through the range from solid to stock. I wanted the same smooth that I have now so I went with stock. Then I saw how hard they were to install and I am waiting til next winter when i take my headers back out to have them coated !!!
Poly mounts are great. Solid mounts won't give and make the car rattle more from the motor rocking. For a mostly daily car I would put poly or stock in it.

I have pfadt mounts and love those, even cammed the motor will not move at all... I don't like the design of the hinsons as much but I would much rather have them over a stock mount... if you are going to boost it and make 600+ then I would definitely get something better than stock
