Header coating?
I don't know if Swain's really does insulate against heat better, but it sounds like a reasonable theory to think a much thicker coating (8 times as thick) works better.
I got my stainlessworks headers coated for $200 + shipping, but they usually charge $250. I don't know if they'd charge more for LGM headers since they are almost a foot longer than mine, but they probably won't.
My headers just arrived yesterday, and the coating seems pretty neat. It is nearly white with shiny flakes, and feels like rough-grit sandpaper. Seems like the only reason they would make it look like that is because that is the best coating for heat reduction, because it sure isn't for looks. They say on their website, "Swain Coating is Functional not Cosmetic"
Jet-hot by comparison looks almost like chrome on their webpage. One thing Jet-hot has going for it is that they coat the inside and the outside, which they can do because they use a slurry that they pipe through the headers. Swain only does the outside, since theirs is plasma-sprayed on.
