If car is not properly warmed up, does this message appear or do I need to , god forbid, take it in to the dealer? I notice that when I stop and turn off the ignition and start her back up again, the messages don't reappear. Usually happens first thing in the morning.
Re: Service ABS/Traction Control on DIC (fins4284)
I got that message once, about 4 months ago I think, but never since. it was wet out and I got on the gas a bit/lost traction. she drove fine though and I haven't had any problems with it--I've broken the rear loose several times since and no message aside from "traction system active" for a few seconds.
Re: Service ABS/Traction Control on DIC (fins4284)
Do any of you experiencing this have stainless steel brake lines. The Russell brake lines caused me all kind of problems. I swapped them out for Goodridge and have not had any further problems.
Re: Service ABS/Traction Control on DIC (Mellow Yellow 2000)
No I still have the factory brakes lines......but I noticed I get the message sometimes when I hit a hard bump, so I'm thinking it might be a bed connection on one of the wheels sensors.

Service Advisor said he never heard of B0251--will call regional for assistance. Asked me to check if water got in wiring on passenger side; check for leaking acid in battery; check for low tire pressure. None of the above. Finally, he asked me to clear all codes to see if they return. Does he know what he's talking about?
Re: Service ABS/Traction Control on DIC (fins4284)
He may not know what he's talking about.
You are getting the DIC message from:
C1226 RF Excessive Wheel Speed Variation
If you don't have stainless lines, it could be the harness to the wheel speed sensor, the connector, or the sensor itself (which is part of the wheel hub $$$).
Re: Service ABS/Traction Control on DIC (fins4284)
I get these two messages occasionally as well. Usually in the morning too, but after I've been driving for a bit, not first thing. It has happened about 4 times since I bought the car (August '99) and, being in computers, my first reaction is to turn it off and then on again :) which of course, upon restarting, resulted in no codes and no problems. I've written those occurances off bad info on some sensor somewhere, I'd be more concerned if it happened more than once in six months, or if it stayed on after "rebooting", but thus far I haven't taken it in. Sorry I don't have more helpful information, but at least someone else is seeing the same thing. How often does it happen to you?

The lost communication with XXX is nothing to worry about. It happens when starting your car and all units are not on-line at the same time.
The battery circuit is something you get if you had a low battery voltage and it may also happen when connecting/disconnecting your battery.
The H after the codes indicates that the code are 'History'. A C indicates a 'Current' code that is a code activated after you started the car.
Clear all codes and see which ones comes back. It's the ones that gets activated again you are interested in.
One important thing to do is to check all groundposts. You have one on the frame close to the hood hinge on each side, you have one on the frame on the drivers side close to the brake cylinder, you have one on the frame beside the battery. I disconnected the battery, removed all cables from the groundposts and cleaned everything including removing the paint that are on the posts closest to the frame to get a better ground connection. Retighten everything.
