Two weeks ago my 2004 lost all power to instrument cluster gauges including HUD. No illumination, no working gauges. Only the turn signals worked. I couldn't find source of problem. Checked connections, nothing loose. Took to dealer. Dealer said I had wrong BCM (don't know how) but his Vette specialist was able to make program work. However, still no working cluster. Dealer removered cluster to send out for rebuild. Cluster is defective according to them. Thanked him but I declined, I can handle that work. Dealer reassembled cluster and everything came back to life with one exception. The check engine light will not illuminate for any reason. There is a persistent code P0650. Thought on next steps?
Bulb burnt out is not one of the items in the diagnostics but who know??
Wouldn't be the first time that the causes of problems were other than what GM has documented in its shop manual diagnostics....
LOL well, Chuck they probably don't list... check for fuel if your car won't start either...it's just too simple. Maybe they should have a diagnotics manual for dummies... I'd probably have to get one...
Sometimes it's hard to see the forrest, for the trees...

Thank you folks...this should keep busy for the next hour or so.
I will update next week. Grandchildren visit this weekend. BTW, upon "opening" the photos presented themselves in the correct orientation, thanks again.
