I have had this installed on my 04 or many years. I live the desert southwest where summer temps are often well above 100 degrees. Lets me turn on the fans in high speed mode in traffic to quickly bring down the coolant temp. Many will say the C5 was designed to run hot but I'm old school and don't like seeing coolant temps at 230. Heat kills many things under the hood whether the engine can take the heat or not. As always YMMV.

another option is to turn the fans on sooner... when my car is warmed up the fans stay on high speed pretty much all the time when at idle... I have spal fans but the stock fans are pretty stout and you shouldn't have any issues doing this
I have a 2004 with twin turbos and had issues with running hot especially in the summer. On the street in the summer I turn on the fans full time for stop and go driving. I'll even let them run after shut down for 5 minutes or so just to help the cool down. In my setup it also runs the electric water pump so I have full circulation for cool down.
I'm SOOOOO glad to see what 8vette7 said... I have thought for a while now about the difference between 190 degrees vs 235 degrees under your hood...it's like a freaking oven for ALL the components in the engine bay... how Cool is TOO cool...180 ish.... how HOT is too HOT to me anything over 210 degrees that is just the way I see it based on information from the forum and mostly on many post by ET on this issue concerning the "sweet spot"
I know personally I would rather have my engine bay, along with my engine coolant as cool as possible without having it TOO cool as to NOT operate optimally...
I have it installed of mine, live in the Deep South where high temps and humidity or the norm. It controls the low speed fan, not the high speed when running the air conditioner, the a/c runs the high speed. When driving in the spring and fall where the a/c is not required, I run the cool it and it keeps me below 200 degrees

Thanks. Temps are normal on the flat. The slightest load causes a increase up to 230. Bad for everything under the hood. Gonna do this for sure. Will order tonight..thanks again... garebear..
The fans may... be part of the problem. But, you might have some "other" things going on that are adding to your overheating problem...
I would PULL the radiator out and CLEAN it...
Get a NEW reservoir tank cap...
Of course when you Pull the radiator out you can flush the system out and replace with proper coolant mixture...
You can also put in a 160 degree stat, along with having the fans reprogrammed or a switch to turn them on it will help...
