Code P0480 Cooling Fans - Background and help needed
Last summer, before I put the car away, this was coming up. It's the cooling fan relays. It's of course still there. Last year I had replaced all 3 relays connected with this fan cooling circuit and replaced the blown #49 maxi fuse. It was fine for a little while, then the fuse blew again.
I just checked the rotation of both fans. Found the passenger one to be free, however the drivers side fan rotates until it comes to a hard stop. Then going the other way, it appears to go back 360 degrees and stop again. It's like the fan or fan motor is hitting something. I'm guessing that this is causing the fan maxifuse to blow and thus the code. Anyone seen this before?

So I got the car up on my lift and moved the fan until past the "stuck" spot and it freed up with full rotation. There might have been something there that I couldn't see that was moved out of the way, but not sure. Nothing fell out from under the fan. After that I replaced the 30amp Maxifuse, started the car. First start I got all the Traction Control/80mph/ABS warnings again for about 10 secs (see my other thread), then they went out. Drove for a while, then parked in my drive with AC on. Passenger fan was going, and I think the drivers side (the one in question) but I couldn't see that one. I did the DTC sweep and no trouble code now. This one may be fixed. But the other issue with the warning lights etc may be back intermittently.... See my other thread. Thx on this one! Mark
