I'm with you on this one Vetteman, only not as an alternative but the easiest way to do it. It only requires removing 8 tiny screws. It requires a 7 or 8mm 1/4 in drive socket and ratchet, a short extension will make it easier. Makes it an easy job to do.
The only I mentioned that way I have a ZO6 lowered. I tried that first but it was a pain in the ****. So I got my roller chair and headed that way. Now I have done it that way 4-5 times. I am getting pretty good at it. Easy peasy.

I do it through the bottom panel, without removing the tire or jacking up the car, although a ramp or a piece of wood to raise it a couple of inches would make it easier
