Hurst Install Question
I'm looking over the install pics. If you are not going to use the stock **** or boot, then why take the stock **** off in the first place. Seems like you can work around them both. Am I missing something?

You're right. Probably no reason to if you're gonna' use a new boot and ****. The boot retainer can be peeled off the stock boot for reuse on the new boot. Getting the instrument panel over the combined height of the stock shifter and **** may be a challenge, but I've never tried it.

There is another rubber/plastic cover plate under the console that covers the shifter base. The cover helps insulate out noise and dirt, so I'd think you'd want to put it back in over the new shifter. It will be a challenge to get it off over the boot and stock ****, I think. Try the vise grips, wood piece, and screw driver prying method that's recommended for removing the key. It worked great for me and my key was very tight.
