Anyone gone with the $6k one yet? I was thinking about it for in the spring. Anyone know if it comes with headers?

I originally had this package in my C5 before going with the Vette Doctors LS1 382. My stage 1 H/C car ran 11.8 and I know the current versions of this package are making a whole lot more power!

You can't go wrong with Carmen and Dennis. They are top notch machanics and very good people. I have been doing business with them for over 6 years now and I wouldn't bring my Vettes to anyone else.

OH... I know who you are... I have seen you run at Cecil on Wed nights before. I used to go down there with my GTP all the time. I remember you and another C5 lining up next to each other all the time. Your cars sounded wicked going down the track. Not to mention looked good, LOL I remember when I think it was you, hit second so hard it sounded like you were tearing up pieces of the track when the car when sideways about 2 feet!!!

So you did have the Rx I was talking about? Did it come with headers? Were you happy with what they offered for the money? I got to get this past the wife and so far she is saying I can do it as long as I get some other bills paid off first ;)

 

I just had them do a cam only and tuning job for me and am quite pleased. They are currenly doing a cam/headers/tuning group deal and offering discounts. I think all you would need to do is add heads and you are on your way. Thread here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=382653

Having virtually no mods on my car and you yourself just searching for first mods then I would concur with REDGAR the special they are running now is a great way to get started especially for under $3,000.

Someone will have to correct me if I am wrong because my installation knowledge is straight from reading a couple years of head/cam install posts. My understanding is the cam part of the h/c would be more labor inensive than the heads, correct? More things need to be removed or just moved out of the way than you when you swap heads.

WOOOOOHHH! I should stop right there, what do I know. Point being this is a great first step into mods (cam/LT/tuning). The power is subject to the car such as mine being a 99' and not having the LS6 intake, but with the 6spd I might be in the 380RWHP range that REDGAR is in. That is serious power for the money.

I bet Boweryboy could attest to the leaps and bounds considering power/price ratio of mods today compared to mods 2-4 years back. You big dawg . :cheers:

Well you see here is the thing... I cant do it until spring so I am sure that whatever special they are running now wont be in effect at that time. Also The Rx includes a custom ground cam AND head work. Its everything from intake to exhaust....well with the exception of high lift rockers but if you have a good cam you dont need them.

 

BTW guys.....its **** finger not shaQ finger. Shaq is a very overpaid ball player....me on the other hand.... I put the grrrrr in swinger baby....yeah. Oh Behave!!! :D

Hey may honor the discount even if you do the work in the Spring I would think if you gave a deposit.

 

But why would I want to pay 3k for just a cam and tuning when for 6K I can get the head work, an intake, exhaust etc then the tuning with it all installed? I can see if maybe I already had an exhaust and an intake that I would think about a cam only but this seems to be a sweet all in one package deal for a guy that has nothing other than !CAGS.

 

The deposit thing REDGAR mentions is not solely to take advantage of this little cam package, in addition they are having a 10% discount on many packages . It is not relfected on their website, at least since I last looked but a thread started here by the Vette Doctors mentions 10% discounting on selected package .

It is worth a shot to lock in special pricing for whatever you choose with a minimal desposit.

Jeff, I was down there 2 months ago with the same question..(I might get the $6k package next month). After talking with them about wanting to keep my own present corsa indy exhaust, they will install a full set of headers as a substitute. Give them a buzz, i am sure the will work with
you but I don't think headers are included...

**** you make a fair point but it is still $3,000 :eek: and yes the is some economy of scale by doing it all at once.

You can ask anyone that knows me, I have always been pennywise and pound foolish when it comes to mods:(

 

While I know that some of top quality tuners in this entire country are up there in the east coast, we've dealt with the Vette Doctors many times with different customers who have had work done there. I second everything said about the Vette Doctors here in this post. I talked to Boweryboy when I was getting ready to do my H+C package back in Nov. 2000. I actually wound up hauling my car up to the Vette Doctors from KY on two seperate occasions for two different sets of mods. On both occasions, the service was awesome, and both Carmen and Dennis went beyond the call of duty to make me a satisfied customer. You simply cannot go wrong by them.

Just give Carmen or Dennis a call, explain your situation, and I'm sure they'll work something out for you. They are easy guys to deal with and will take care of you.

They are cooking up another cam for my car at the present, so I'm more than willing to give the guys repeat business. I'm sure that once you deal with them, you'll feel the same.

 

No it comes with your choice of exaust, but if you have exaust already you can substitute headers for it. That's what I did, the best 6K I've ever spent :yesnod: :seeya
