Looking to replace the standard bulbs with LED's in the tail lights and license plate lights. Anyone know where I can buy the LED's with the loads built in to the bulb so I don't have to buy an extra harness or splice wires?
To my knowledge, what you want doesn't exists. The shunt resistors needed to avoid hyperflashing get so hot that they require a built-in heat sink. They should be mounted to a metal frame or something that doesn't get damaged and helps dissipate the created heat.
If shunt resistors were to be incorporated into the bulbs themselves, they would get so hot that they would melt sockets, housings, etc.
The best solution for this is to install a hyperflash harness. This harness will fix hyperflashing turn signals when LEDs are installed (although hazards will still do it), while avoiding all the problems associated with the heat created by shunt resistors.
This one even includes 2 LEDs for you license plate lights for just $34.99. It's completely plug-and-play: no splicing or anything
That harness will take care of all tail lights and license plate lights? If so, seems that's just what I'll have to do. Just installs inline behind the knee bolster panel/Key switch?
One harness is all that's needed to take care of converting to LEDs the turn signals bulbs in all 4 corners (not just the tail lights) and avoid hyperflashing.
Yes, it is installed behind the driver's knee bolster.
