'97 - '03 Z06
I bought the '97 new and have loved that car like no other. Then, last weekend my son bought an '03 Z06! He was kind enough (or mean enough) to let me drive it Saturday.
Oh my. For anyone who hasn't driven a Z, you won't believe the difference. I was going to wait for the C6, but I don't think I can. Either than or I better get over to 21st Century Muscle Cars.

I read your thread with amusement! Being a year younger than you I am also stuck in the muscel car craze of yester year. When there was no replacement for displacement, and the only computer was the one between your ears. But I must admitt these new C5's are certainly
nice. I paced back and forth trying to decide between an 03 AE Vert or an 03 Z. I decided on the AE Vert, I would have killed myself in the Z, because even at my advanced age, I HAVEN'T OUT GROWN THE NEED FOR SPEEEEDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wholeheartidly agree! I drove a 2001 Z06 a few months back and was astonished at the difference to my '97. Granted, my '97 felt quite a bit faster at a punch, but the overall feel of the Z06 was MUCH better. It felt like it was 500 lbs lighter! The big difference I felt was how much quicker the Z06 lit the rear tires at low speed and low RPMS. At any speed and any RPM, the Z would light the tires. My car takes a split second longer to get some boost build up. They're amazing cars and if I didn't have the car I do, I'd definitely own one. :cheers:
