Default NewBe Question

Now that I've been reading, watching and, throwing in my 2 cents, I've finally come to realize I've over looked the protocol of introducing myself. :bb

I purchased my silver 97 w/ black interior in June 01. Since then I've been adding bolt ons, (see sig.), joined a local club, participated in club event and shows, tried my hand at road racing, (Willow Springs) and, drag racing at LACR. My best time to date is 12.2 @ 107.5. I haven't been able to do better then a 2.17 60' on street tires.

I find I'm getting a lot of good information on the forum and, hope to contribute when possible.

Hope to see some of your fast Vette's at the West Coast Corvette Challenge at LACR on the 28th.

Now for my questions...

1. How do I identify what suspension package I have? I think it's basic, I only have the traction control On/Off button on the center console but, while doing some work I noticed the shocks have wires coming into them. 2. Anybody have any idea what that's about?

Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Active Handling was not introduced until '98 so the button on the console is for traction control only. The wires going into the shocks may be for Selective Real Time Damping, where the shocks internal valves could rotate and change the damping pressure. If equipped, you would have a dial also on the center console. If you have Z51 Performance Handling, you should be able to see the rear sway bar running just underneath and behing the exhaust tips. I could be wrong about the shocks, hopefully someone else will chime in...
