I made 12 horsepower on the dyno with an intake change. After some tuning from my original 378 rwhp I went to 403 with an intake and tuning. Of course this is on my modified engine.
I originally installed one on my 99, felt a nice gain over 3500 RPM's. Got a great deal on a Blackwing and bought that, didn't notice any appreciable difference with the BW. So whatever free HP was laying around the LS6 lid must have found most of them.
I still think it's a great and safe mod for $45. Not as sexy as the Blackwing though.
I put on a ZO6 air cleaner on my 99,with a K&N air filter. The intake noise increased, but I can't say its any faster. If there is a horse ppower increase,I don't think its very much, but thats on my car. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy

I did the Z06 lid, K&N and screens and cut the front fog light surrounds. Bigger hole, less restriction and denser air should provide more power. I can't say there was much of a SOP gain in my "normal" drive to work, but there is a gain in the upper rpm range. I didn't do a dyno run before and after so, no numbers and the claims are highly suspect. For the money it was worth it.
I think PCM tuning is required to take full advantage of any intake mods.
The computer had to readjust after adding the cover and K/N filter. I have since beat a stock 2000 FRC M6 from a standstill and roll, as well as a 2001 stock cobra from a 50 mph roll (did not get a chance to try him from a light but from a roll it wasn't even close). Sure feels stronger and in comp mode I now get a nice chirp from 1-2 at WOT. :D
I put the '02 Z06 airbox cover on my '01 Coupe...using the paper filter, I noticed more midrange and upper rev range scoot and a nice bit of "roar."
I also took the plunge with a Blackwing and have noticed little or no further enhancement of forward thrust...Blackwing is cool but for 46 and change from Ken Fichtner, the '02 Z06 airbox cover (and possibly the K&N) are a great cheap mod. :chevy :flag
