Hi all! Based on the pic, would you trust this to survive a two hour drive home on the interstate? Ideally don't want to have it repaired out of town but if it's unsafe to drive that far I'll have to bite the bullet. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
honestly you could probably drive it for another 20,000 miles like that, but due to the cracks it won't have the proper spring rate. stiffness will be reduced and handling will suffer.
I had the same thing happen. It's somewhat rare, so you can usually find affordable low millage used replacements. I opted to upgrade to a stiffer Z06 spring. You can use a C6 spring on the front if you want. The C6 rear spring is completely different however.
My front end was sitting too low. Took my car to my GM certified mechanic and discovered the front leaf spring was cracked and delaminating. Order a new one from Cultrag Performance and had my mechanic install it and do a four wheel alignment. The new leaf spring made a big difference in ride quality and handling, plus brought the height of the front end where it should be. The new front leaf spring came with the rubber bumpers and adjusting bolts. For an item like this, I would rather buy new knowing I am getting a warranty with the part.
