I'm a little confused about this air filter. Does it use the stock air box or an other enclosure or does it replace the air box ? I seen it advertised and in one ad from the vender it looked like it was an open filter fastened to where the airbox use to be, yet in another ad they showed an airbox that was available to enclose it. Need some help in detemining which to buy for my next mod. Is this unit fairy waterproof? Thanks for the help in advance.
It's an open element filter that affixes in the stock location. It will replace your exsisting airbox.
The intake area is water resistant with falling rain. Gaping puddles you don't know the depth of, steer clear, with a stock box or aftermarket. These are low to the ground cars to begin with.
Here are two pics I saw posted today from a guy with a Blackwing without problems. I wouldn't do it, but he reports no issues. The BW sits up high on the shroud like the stock unit.
