White Faced Guage Installed...got a problem I think.
Just got done installin the cheap White faced guages you can get off ebay that are indiglo as well
Got a prob though :(
I didnt take off the needles as instructions from a website said....I followed basically all instructions and everything went well....install wasnt too bad.
But now all the needles except the Fuel and Coolant are working fine.
For some reason the Fuel and Coolant needles dont seem to go move all the way...seems like they are getting stuck and having trouble for some reason to go either all the way to the left or to the right. The fuel guage seems to be stuck at 3/4 tank of gas when I just filled it up and the Coolant stays at about 190d.
What can I do to reset this and get them working properly????? :cry :cry :cry :cry
Also another question.....The clear lens that covers the guages....I took off and didnt put back on. Before, someone cleaned the lens with windex or something and put these spots that wont come off all over the lens and made it look horrible....so when I did this install I just didnt put it back in. Could this cause problems   . The only thing I could think of is that I will just accumalate dust for me to clean but no real concern...this correct??

My gages had the same problem when I got them installed. The installer said that I needed more tape on the back of the gages because the gages were slightly curling when the temps started rising and caused a couple of the needles to get stuck. They put more tape on the back and they've been working fine since then. Good luck.

I have the same white face gauge set - bought from WCC. You need to put the clear lens back on. If you somehow catch a needle with the "dustrag" or spill a coke or some such on the gauges you're up that great American tributary without a paddle. A new gauge pod will set you back a couple of $1,000. It's not worth the risk in my opinion.
The gauge pod is built in Japan and, to the best of my knowledge, the pod is sold as an asembled unit - you cannot purchase individual parts - so be very careful.

You need to either replace the lens or put your old back on. The gauge cluster is sold as a singe unit and it is very expensive. Secondly you have to take it to someone to have them calibrate it with your car and that is not cheap either.

ttt
still wonderin about the no lens thing
Maybe you can try the polish that's made especially for plastic lenses. I have some I got from Zaino but I know there are several other brands. I used it to polish some lexan pieces and it did a pretty good job although it didn't get rid of some of the scratches. It didn't harm the plastic though.
It's worth a try because I certainly wouldn't leave the gauges exposed like that. As stated above, they could easily be damaged and I'm sure the dust isn't going to help them any.
