Default Steering column locked

I got in my 98 put the key in and turned it and wheel would not move. Showed message, service column lock. Has anyone had this problem? Many thanks.

LMC5 bypass kit WITH column unlock. Easy to install and cheap on ebay

Yes, you need the LMC5 kit WITH the 12v operated unlocker. You cannot properly install the LMC5 itself if the column is locked or can still lock.

Temporarily you can grab the steering wheel and turn it back and forth until you bypass the locking system, but it will still lock up the next time you use the car. The by-pass is the way to go...cheap, easily installed and a ton of video and printed info on how to do it.
