Broken E-Brake -- Button Popped Out
I have the button separated from the handle but I have no idea how to reconnect the curved 'wire' portion at the end? I wanted to ask for some help before I attempt to fix it.
Here's a picture if it's of any use:

After replacing the unit, I examined the defective original pretty closely. As you can see from yours, the sheet metal case is welded together and very difficult to take apart to repair the problem. If you are imaginative and mechanically skilled, you could probably make a repair, but it would take some time.
I concluded that the problem occurs if you push on the button hard to release the park brake without first pulling the lever back slightly to relieve pressure on the internal ratchet. Pushing hard on the button as described can deform the wire loop you see on the end opposite the button and then the wire and button come out.
To repair mine, I would have attempted to drill out the riveted in pivot pin, reform the wire loop and reassemble with a fabricated pivot pin after hooking the reformed loop on the ratchet release lever. I put in a replacement instead.
If the replacement fails, I still have the defective one for a future rainy day project.
