Default Help needed - Head light motor was spinning

I´m taking the car apart to do a new paint job (2001 z06). The head lights are removed (separated by the two small pivot bolts and the linkage arm), but before removal the head lights where raised using the manual ****.

Today I would install the battery again, but immediately the head light motor started spinning (the manual **** was still in the raised position). I seems like the just kept spinning, so I unhooked the battery. I then tried to tighten the manual ****, but

Questions:
1) do I need to disconnect each head light at the big connector on the frame rail in the engine compartment near the hood hinge? Or is there any other way to install battery again without affecting the head light motors?

2) the head light motors did spin a lot before I managed to disconnect the battery again. How can I be sure that the are positioned right, before re-installing the head light assembly in up-raised position?

Any help is appreciated

[QUOTE=8VETTE7;1592818207]As far as your secong question, as long as you did not disconnect the linkage between the motor and the headlight door, there should be nothing to sync up, Reinstall the motors and insure the doors are closed and the reinstall fuses 3 and 4 and then connect the battery.[QUOTE]

Unfortunately the linkage was disconnected. The picture is not that good, but it is all I have at this moment. But you can see, that the top of the head light assembly together with the linkage arm is removed - so only the frame and motor is left.

What would be the right thing to do in this situation (would really like to be sure, that the head lights work before painting the car and install the new kit from radioflyer - and not be concerned about all the things that could happen/or brake, if the motor is out of sync.

This picture shows what was installed when I hooked up the battery.

I searched the forum last night and read the post by 8vette7 again. Please forgive my ignorance as I have very little experience with the headlight - but:

1) Both headlight assembly´s were dis-mounted (the linkage also) when I hooked up the battery. So I guess I can assume, that the two motors must have spinned equal rounds? Right?
2) It seems like it doesn´t matter how much the axle on the motors spinned - as long as I re-install the two linkage arms in the same position and then manually lower the headlight assembly again. Then I can hook up the battery, and the motors shouldn´t start cranking the gears? Right?

If I´m right, the problem is not that big at all. If not - please forward any advice.

By the way I´m apparently missing one of the 4 bumpers on the passenger side headlight assembly and two of the bumpers in the drivers side is pretty worn out. So I´ll order a new kit from www.rodneydickman.com as recommended in other threads. But the missing bumper hasn´t earlier affected the headlights - though the gear inside may have hit the stop harder. The headlights have been working with no problems at all - never had any faults - beside the Z49-option which (planning either to modify the sensor or get it disabled - but not many tech-guys in Denmark who can do the job...)

I will get 8 new rubber bump stops - it is one of the cheap upgrades ;-)

Does anybody have a picture, that shows the linkage? I could really need it in order to make the right installation?
