What determines how bright the MPH light is?
I see my change brightness sometimes, and it doesn't seem related to the rest of the instrument cluster.

I believe it is controlled by the light sensor on the top of the dash - the same sensor that is used for Twilight Sentinel, the HUD, and the EC mirrors.

I'm pretty sure it is controlled by the light sensor above the number 1 button on the right side of the dash. If you put your finger over it, it should dim.

The cluster is illuminated by two beam type light sources on each side of the cluster which illuminates the gauges. The MPH insignia happens to fall between the farthest disperal pattern for both beams so it is almost always the least bright of the cluster indicators. This why it's not at the same "luminesence" degree as the other parts of the cluster as you move away from the MPH insignia to the right and left.

The MPH is backlit unlike the rest of the gauges it is controlled by light sensor as stated before. It also dims when you turn on your lights If it was iluminated by the black lights on the side it wouldent be able to change to KPH when you change to metric on the DIC.

And furthermore, it stays illuminated at all times in order for the driver to always know which scale (MPH/KPH) is in use. :yesnod:
