I have a 99 with a six speed M12 new at 22k miles car now has 33k, the car procuces 409rwhp and has experienced some wheel hop in the first three gears from time to time. I have developed some drive train slop, general looseness when going from accelleration to decelleration and vice versa. The dealer and a mechanic checked the U joints and snooped around, with no luck. My queston is this. When these cars are driven hard for a period of time, what are some of the things which fail or loosen in order to cause this simptom? any help would be appreciated. Matt
I have the same issue and would like to see an answer to this.

Most of them seem to have a little slop in the drive train...some more than others.
I think it is most noticible to a driver who is not familiar with the car...when shifting one naturally gets better at adjusting the engine RPM to the gear ratio he is shifting into, thereby reducing the shock of a quick take up in the slack...sorry if that doesn't make any sense...about the best I could phrase it.
Mark, you are correct in that most do have some end play, so to speak, however, what we're talking about (at least in my case) has come on and gotten worse after upping the engine hp with h/c and other mods. Mine has gotten noticeably more pronounced and I'm wondering if some part(s) is/are on their way out. It is also aggravating and getting worse.
6speeding,

I have 28,000 miles on mine, about 3000 of them on the track, and 415 rwhp. I can tell you that under these conditions the driveline slop is evident. It is managable, but it is there. DRM told me they see it a lot in Vettes that are run hard. Probably a combination of torque tube, half shafts, rearend, etc.
