I currently have the Comp Cams lifters in my car and am getting annoying valvtrain noise. I know this is normal, but i was wondering if i put in some stock lifters if i can do away with the noise.
what kind of lifters are you guys using on your heads and cam packages???

Re: What Lifters Do You Use (tito)
I use the Comp 'R' Lifters. Yes there is some noise but that is common with these lifters. Before swapping them out, ask yourself if you are willing to give up 10+ rwhp just to remove a little bitty noise.
If the noise is really bad then maybe something else is amiss. If it isn't, just turn up the volume on the ol' radio! :D
I have Comp Cams lifters in my 436 but had the stock lifters before with my Stage II heads/cam.. I find the Comp lifters actually quite a bit quieter than the stock ones, especially when they are riding on a pretty agressive cam lobe.
Unfortunately, when you have cam lobes with as steep of ramps as are necessary to get the lift and duration we want, while retaining drivability, we have to put up with some valvetrain noise.. I find that running a slightly thicker oil (Mobil 1 15w50) helps with valvetrain noise slightly. Other than that, after driving it for a month, you get used to it and don't pay any attention to it.
Dont get me wrong.. i have had my mods for a long time now.. it doesnt bother me too much.. but everytime i go out with my buddy and we are in his 02 vette (bone stock) i kind miss how quiet my car used to be before all the mods.
I also have the comp R's ,, but was thinking of maybe putting in some 02 z06 lifters to see if those may quiet down the noise to a non exsistant level. Hopefully someone will chime in that has done this and let me know if it has helped out or not.
Comp R's if setup with the correct lower preload are noisy as hell and sound like a sewing machine. You can get used to them. Didn't like mine much. You ONLY need them if you plan to rev 6600+ RPM.
Also remember, it is quite a job to change lifters on an LS1... Both heads have to be taken off the engine to get at them. No more days of just pulling the intake manifold and having them right there in the valley. :(
