Sitting at work wondering what will go wrong when I attempt to replace my starter on my 02 C5. The only issues I see as being a problem is removing the 14 yr old bolts holding the mid-pipe to the header/manifold.
Has anyone recently removed their mid-pipe? I plan to soak the bolts every day until this sat when I plan to replace the starter just ordered from amazon, the bosch sr8581N.
Not sure if using an impact will be better to get them started or should I try to see if they will move using a open ended wrench 1st? Do not want to strip the nuts!!
I soaked mine with WD40 the day I did a header install 2 years ago, no problem at all. I just used a ratchet set, came off pretty easy.
I soaked all, then did some prelim work (removing wiring and stuff), then went to work removing all fasteners...
Just installed my headers last week. Just soak the H*ll out of them (the old bolts). I had no problems at all.
I will be sending my project up grades with pics in a week or two....

Quick thought, remove the 3 bolts holding the pipes at the manifold(starter side only ) and
the 2 that hold them up/under the bell-housing...this will give you plenty of room to remove/replace the starter...also while you have the starter out drill some holes in the plastic flywheel cover....here is some info:::: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ur-clutch.html
I did both sides..
