Passenger window does not respond to either Driver or Passenger side switch.
Fues for right side power door ok. Worked fine and then nothing! No noise or slugishnessprior to it going bad.
Anyone had a similar problem?
Where should I look first?
What is the dealer repair likely to cost if I can't find the problem?
Open the passenger door and bang your fist hard on the area just below the grip . (next to the speaker) This will make the passenger window functional again.
I read in prior posts that the rotor of the motor corrodes if not used regularely.
This did solve my problem.
Re: HELP! Passenger Window not working (vetterdstr)
I had a similar situation on my other vehicle. I removed the door panel and found a pine needle found it's way into the plug causing a short. It has worked fine since the removal of the pine needle. Check the male/female plug connection on the control module for dirt or other obstruction.
I have that exact problem....works fine, then all the sudden it stops working for a few days. I finally get time to take it in and it works fine. They find no problem...I'll try the Fonzi Bang next time to my $45K ride....I wish they would build these things better.
You'll need a new motor/regulator assembly. You might get by with beating on the door for a while, but this assembly WILL need to be replaced.
Some people say that the passenger side goes bad from lack of use. I gotta say bullcrap to this. That has nothing to do with it. It's a BAD design. When I raise the top cover on my roadster to store the soft top, both windows automatically roll down. This is the only time my windows are operated. Thus both my windows are used the same.
I just had my passenger side motor replaced also by the way!
Well, my window stopped working again and I took it straight to the dealership...they said it was the regulator...Warranty picked up the $250+ repair...
I've got to take mine to the nightmare dealership here for my passenger window. I've taken the trim panel off the door and cleaned the electrical contact points. Used a cleaner to clean the contact points on the cable and rollers. I did notice the top of the motor/regulator was getting warm, but no roll down. Thank goodness for extended warranties. :yesnod: It's only gonna cost me $25.00 to get it fixed.
I replaced the motor in mine, and the motor design confirmed what others had posted.
The motor is can design, it is not an open case. AS the motor wears the residue from the bushes collects in a little pile inside the motor . The pile, being conductive, shorts the armature, stopping the motor. Pound on it enough to shake the pile of commutator dust away from the armature, and it removes the short, restoring operation.
The GM motor I took out was from mexico, the Auto zone replacement was also from mexico, and looked to be a duplicate. I paid about fifty bucks. Rebuilt motors were also available. A simple clean job, but I broke a few trim clips, from low skills.
