I'm getting stuff in order to replace the leaky axle seals on my 00C5. Just to double check the only parts I need for this are two 88996703 (or newer # 19259473)
Not sure about the part number...looks right. Mine's an '05 and I believe it is the same. I changed both sides and the cover O-ring gaskets as well as the input shaft seal but my differential was out of the car so it was easier to do as a preventative measure. Likely, only my axle seals were leaking. You'll need some gear oil (75W-90) as I believe you will loose a little with the shaft out and seals off. You might want to change the differential gear oil while your at it if it hasn't been done. A seal tool is nice to have to pop the new one's in.
Was the fluid changed and the leaks started shortly after that?
If so, get the car level and pull the fill plug until fluid stops running out. Clean everything up and monitor, it may stop....mine did as I overfilled it a little.
