Cranked my car tonight and let it idle for about 5 mins to warm up then slowly started down the street. Made it about 50 yards staying in first gear and the check engine light started flashing for about 10 secs, maybe less, then went off. Got home and checked for codes but I have none. First time I've seen this. I know a flashing cel indicates a misfire but I didn't notice anything and there were no codes. Any thoughts?
8Vette7 posted a procedure for pulling the codes with the car running. You have to hit the reset button or something. I can't remember the exact steps. I'll see if I can find it.
Here is what was posted.
"Clear ALL the code that you have. Then take the car for a nice ride and when you get back pull the codes again BEFORE you shut off the engine.
To pull codes with the engine running you must use the reset button to clear all messages displayed in the DIC. Then pull codes as normal.
Post all the codes that have returned. Codes that have returned are the ones that need to be addressed.......................... "

Reason: added quote, corrected typo
All I can tell you is that as far as I know a flashing CEL means misfire. There's also two types...fast and slow. Not sure exactly what they each mean.
I haven't had the opportunity to go out in the garage and check things out but I suspect it's going to be a loose plug wire. I popped a few off the other day to access my header bolts so I probably left one a little loose.

Or, when you did that one or more wires ended up touching the header and melted that spot exposing then arcing thus causing a misfire and cel. Just a thought, ask me how I know.
