Decided I'm going to pull the trigger on an exhaust today.
Interested if the newer Borla Stingers still drone? Not the S-Type II models, but if the standard ones are better in this regard, specifically Borla part number 140038 the quad rounds.
Understand Borla changed these to minimize the resonance.
My understanding is that Borla still offers their older style systems that drone and that the PN 140038 you are referring to is the S Type Classic which is the original version where some people complained about drone. The S Type II PN 140427 is the newer version that is not supposed to drone. Notice the price you pay for no drone…
I have the S Type II PN 140427 sitting in my garage just waiting for a good weather weekend to get them installed so I can’t speak to them first hand yet but I purchased them because Borla claims the redesign eliminates the drone.
….well I just realized this is an 8 year old post. Guess I’ll still leave my comments.

I appreciate your reply and bringing an 8 year old post back to life.
That's exactly it - I've been leaning towards the 140427 but trying to determine if the "No Drone" premium is worth the investment; or if today's production of 140038 is more tolerable vs. when they were produced 20+ years ago.

Hello ColoRadDan if drone is a concern definitely do not get S Type Classic, part number 140038. It is an older design from Borla, hence why it's called S Type "Classic." S Type Classic is Borla's aggressive option before Ataks were made.
Borla S Type II is way better at controlling drone in cabin, but it will be less volume on the outside too. I do have one left in stock on my website:
