When they say "short shift" they mean it, only about a 1.5 inch pull. I put in the two lightest springs. It's a little tight but I think I'll work it for a while to see if it lightens up. If not, I'll pull the inner springs out. No vibration or sound at all. It's as quiet as can be. The 2-3 shift is.....like butta. No more missed 2-3 shifts again! The MGW shift ball is nice. It's a little smaller than I expected, but I like it. It looks good in the car. My Ken King short boot should be here soon. That's a must, the stock boot is too big to use with the Hurst.
The demon key is not worthy of its name. I used needle-nosed visegrips and tapped it out with a hammer is less than 60 seconds.
Hardest part: Disconnecting the wire harness to the airbag light.
Stupid part: Hurst gives you hex key head screws for the shifter install and tell you to torque it down 8-10 pounds. Well, I would have liked to use my torque wrench with the 3/8" socket drive. How the heck are you supposed to properly torque it down? Just by hand I guess.
Recommendation: It's different and takes a little getting used to. But, definately helps you get through the gears faster.
I agree with you 100%. Have about 500mi on my Hurst and loving every minute of it (after the install from hell). Does take a little getting used to, however. No rattles or noise, and just a little excess heat. But it certainly makes rides a little more fun. Well worth the $, IMHO.
