Had a small problem this Monday morning on my way to work. My left rear caliper was loose and the bolt must of flew off on the freeway. My left rear driver side starting making this nasty noise. I stopped to see what it was and didn't see anything in plan view. As I got to work I saw the inside of my polished rim had a nice stripe inside as if someone had put a piece of medal and let the wheel spin. I stood there puzzled trying to figure out what it was.
I knew it was brake related as I put on new rotors and brake pads. Well to cut to the chase I moved the caliper and the rotor bolt was off.  That is how my Caliper swung to one side and scrape my beautiful rim.
Guys and gals does anyone know the size of that bolt that goes to hold the rotors in place??
That is the hardest part, I can call my buddy to bring his jack and tools to get it fixed. Man I am so mad at myself, how could I let this happen? IT was the last wheel and I always make sure I check my work.
You need to go to a chevy parts department and get the caliper mounting bolts. These bolts come with loc-tite already imbedded in the threads and should only be used once. Or, you must loc-tite them whenever you remove them and torque them properly. I would not drive the car anymore. Get this fixed asap. I don't know the size of the bolt, but chevy will.

Re: Need Help Fast (2KVetteMan)
Is it a rotor bolt or caliper bolt you need? Are you still stock? Depending on where you are (I see you are in Irvine), there are a few Chevy Dealers very close.
If I can help, let me know. I am up the coast in Seal Beach.
It is stock on everything. The bolt is the one that you need a sledge hammer to loosen, it was a pain in the butt to get it off. I even hit the bolts back in place so it would be tight again.
Lesson learned.
OcMike thanks for the help, I might take you up on it.
Called the dealer and no one in Orange county has the bolt in stock. The part number for the bolt is 14084051.
I asked the service guy the size of the bolt it is a 14mm x 2 x 47 . Question if I go to a hardware store may I use that size bolt? Or do I need to get the stock one from Chevy.
The closest dealer that has the bolt in stock is on Carson Chevrolet off the 405 fwy and Champagne Chevrolet which is in Redondo Beach. Ahhhh!!!! thats a good 45 minute drive.
Well I finally got everything straighten out. I had my friend John take me to Ace and buy my tools, torque wrench and a ratchet set as well. All my tools were at home, now I have spare tools :yesnod: for the Vette.
Unfortunately the Ace hardware bolt was not the same size. I had to actually go to Cormier Chevrolet in Carson. It was a 30 minute drive, but my buddy was lets go. I bought the last two they had in stock, $6.00 a piece.
Lesson learned today.
1. You need a jack for the C5 somehow. :yesnod:
2. Spare tools for emergencies in the trunk. ("Have now")
3. Great bunch of friends online that volunteered their services today for me.
Thanks Alex "A.K.A FNC80" he called some hardware stores and places without me asking and look around to help out. I never met FNC80 in person just chatted with him online. Just let me know when you want to do the rotors and calipers as well  .
OCMike thanks for your offer as well. Anyone in need of help I am there as well.
