Default My 1st C5

I am new to this forum, but have had other corvettes in the past. I really like the C5 and look forward to many years of fun. I have researched many of the posts regarding abs/tcs lights coming on. I have C1225 coming up on my car intermittently since I bought it. I have replaced the LF jumper wire and LF hub. After I replaced the hub, the lights went away for a couple of days, but after hitting a bump in the road, it came back on again, intermittently. I am going to go back and check all the connections but if that doesn't fix it, I guess I will have to consider a used ebcm. Either that or sell the car and find a 2001-2004. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

You must have stayed at a Holiday Inn last night. Just kidding. I rarely have my antilock brakes kick on unless I'm doing it on purpose and I also live in Michigan.

To the OP...welcome and don't trade the car just yet. Could be something simple.

I'm going to have my mechanic check all the connections associated with LF wheel speed sensor next week. Hopefully, can find a bad connection. Thanks for the input.

There are only three "connections" in that system. Each WSS wire starts at the wheels (obviously ). Then all four wheel wires go through a connector underneath the battery (C146 I believe), then they all terminate into the EBCM. You can measure the resistance (~1000 ohms) of each hub with respect to its associated ground wire at the EBCM. If LF hub reads an open, try the reading at the connector under the battery (C146).

Connector pins can also wear (bend) causing an intermittent. Verify the integrity of the connector pins at the LF hub.

I found that many of these Gremlins can be fixed by checking all ground points. Inspect and clean all connections
When I say clean I mean to unplug it open it and clean. I have had many of my intermittent codes disappear after doing this. Good Luck and welcome to the CFL.

The ECM and BCM uses the wheel sperd sensors to control 2 functions
1st it uses wheel speed data on your ABS braking system to control the wheels from skidding on a hard stop
2nd it uses the data to limit the wheels from spinning on a hard launch
Hence why you are getting an ABS warning and a traction control warning
Most often this is caused simply from fouled or broken wheel sped sensor pigtails
check all 4 of them carefully--Rare ut it could be a bad wheel speed sensor itself
Most data loggers or hi dollar scanners will tell you excatly which wheel is the culprit
Also on older cars it is not un common to have those warnings pop up simply from driving on a rough road or going over railroad tracks---If this is the case--when you shut down the car they will go away immediately---No cheap fix for aging wiring I just lived with it!! But if the warnings come on all the time I would sort out the wheel sensors

I hope I am not jinxing myself, but I think I have found a fix for my c1225 code and abs/tc lights. After replacing both wheel hub/speed sensors and jumper wires, checking all grounds, checking solder joints on ebcm, and replacing tires (they needed replacing anyway), with no luck, I finally tried putting some dielectric grease in the connectors between the wheel speed sensor and the jumper wire and voila, no more codes or lights. Its been about 500 miles since it came on so I am totally encouraged.
