brake light switch removal problem

brake light switch removal problem
So, all of my brake lights stopped working at the same time on my 02 z06. The lights work and the blinkers work but when I press the brake, nothing happens.
I figured it was the switch so I tried to remove the switch and it broke off at the barbs!. The threaded plastic is now stuck in the plate that holds it in. I've seen a few posts that say " you just need to pull the switch out". So i tried that. I'm praying that the bottom switch is the correct one. I noticed it has a metal barbed washer on the back side hear where the switch presses on the pedal. I have no idea how to remove the broken part now. Any suggestions?
