I am awaiting delivery of new z06. has electrochromatic mirror so old great lakes mirror mount will not work with v1. I see that there is both a visor mount and a different mirror mount for this application. looking for the cleanest install without giving up detector performance. will hardwire to the pigtail in the passenger footwell as before, but trying to decide on detector location. I cant tell from pics of the visor mount exactly how it mounts. does it interfere with visor function. is the unit secure or does it rattle. i pretty much know what the mirror setup looks like. any help appreciated.
Re: valevtine 1 mirror mount vs visor mount (tome)
Does the mirror mount come with the V1 or do you have to order it extra, if not where do you get it? Where do you get the power from with the mirror mount I have been thinking of a way to mount from the mirror but did not know of a "mirror mount" and love to see some pics if anyone has them....
Re: valevtine 1 mirror mount vs visor mount (ROCKETCOWBOY)
great lakes trophies sells mirror mounts. a vendor inthe mall on the forum also sells them. use the search function on the forum for valentine 1 install in the archivesw section to get detailed directions with pictures for the hardwire. Paul
Re: valevtine 1 mirror mount vs visor mount (ROCKETCOWBOY)
Great Lakes Trophy sells the mirror mount for the V1. They have two, one for the older style mirrors and one for the new electrochromic. I ran the power cord across the headliner down the side to the power source in the footwell on the passanger side. Works Great!.
Re: valevtine 1 mirror mount vs visor mount (tome)
I keep reading of those who liked the mirror mount and those who didn't. I decided to try one after the suction cups would no longer hold and I had to replace them (no big deal, except knowing I would have to keep doing this).
The mirror mount is outstanding. It puts the detector in a perfect spot for viewing, it's unobtrusive, has a clear front and rear shot, etc. I highly recommend to anyone considering this mount.
However, I do wish the instructions had said to throw away the angled stopper type piece (used for shipping) on the end. That would have saved me tons of time trying to figure out where it should go!!!
You've probably heard this before, but some of us prefer the suction cup mount that comes with the V1- it allows the unit to be mounted high/right of the mirror for max concealment, and I use the "concealed display" on top of my steering column for easy viewing. I put a drop of drool on the suction cups over a year ago and they are still firmly in place.
