Default Does this look like "leaky butt"?

Recently noticed a small puddled of differential oil in the garage. I understand the driver's side leak is a typical issue on the C5. Just wondering if you guys that have dealt with this issue can tell anything from this pic. Thanks

The '00 I owned had the leaky differential seal three times and I do not recall the oily mess being that high on the differential.

I agree with the above. Can you get a pic looking at the sides of the differential?

That look like more than one leak.
Had the same issue on my 98, had the diff and gearbox checked and sealed while it was out anyway.

What others said
If you can clean it up it would be easier to tell. I would keep "before" pictures for reference.

I could never figure out what that metal piece is on the left. It looks like a counter weight to me.

I will take some more pics then clean it up, drive it a bit, and take a few more.

Vent cap is prone to sticking closed and allowing pressure to build up inside the housing instead of "venting" the expanded air. When the pressure gets high enough the cap releases and pukes out fluid along with the released pressure. The vent is NOT supposed to allow pressure to build up when it is working properly.
I will check it out and see. What would cause the vent cap to stick and stay closed?

Explains the issues and has pictures of the factory vent.

Also has some suggested solutions. I have used the short length of hose solution on a couple of cars for members of the club I belong to.
No I'm sorry I overlooked the link. I appreciate the info.

Spray the whole thing with brake clean then watch for the leak.
