Default Squeaky fans?

when I turn off the car, there is a squeaking noise that continues for a little while from the engine bay that gets slower and slower then stops. Presumably the cooling fans squeezing? Is there an easy fix for this? Little hesitant to just start spraying wd40 down there. Thank you.

Even if your cooling fans have been modified to run with the engine OFF, I would NOT use a lubricant to try and stop any noises you are hearing. There is a problem that needs to be identified and corrected and spraying WD40 is NOT the solution. JMHO
the fans haven't been modified but I assume that they don't shut off and stop spinning immediately when the ignition is turned off. It sounds as though they spin slowly until they come to a stop. If not, what else would continue to spin after the ignition is turned off? Thanks.

I still would NOT spray a lubricant on the motors/blades. There is a reason for any noise and that reason needs to be determined and corrected.

Your car, spray away if you really think WD40 will be a permanent fix.........
wel I'm certainly not hell bent on wd40. Was more of a question.

I'd presume that 1 or both bearings are on their way out in the
fan motors.
The Motors and Shroud come as all one piece assembly. Your choice on
aftermarket parts store brand or OEM AC. ..
Just keep an eye on temp gauge til you get em replaced

Disconnect the electrical connection to the fans, start the car, shut it off and listen for the noise to make sure you are working on the right part.

OR, get a friend to take a ride with you. After you drive around for a while, so the fans are on, and running, stop the car, open the hood, and have the friend shut the car off, while you're observing the fans......

Mine does the same thing. Can the motors be replaced instead of the whole shroud? The motors are like $30 a piece.

I still have the squeaky fans. When the car is off and I reach down and spin the fan it squeaks like crazy. Looks like you can replace just the fan motors instead of getting the whole assembly. They are about 70 bucks from gm direct.
