Interesting. Installed the Lmc5 last year sometime - been working perfectly. Took my 1998 C5 into the body shop for some body work and when I picked it up, I get the service column lock error again, but runs and drives just fine.
Any thoughts? I know they unplugged my battery as my clock was off, but wouldn't think this would hurt anything.
Re-read the Lmc5 instructions, verified everything is installed properly - checked fuse 23 (good) - unplugged the negative cable for 1 min - column error seemed to go away, but now I get the pull key for 10 seconds - over and over.. this blows.

Reason: Update
Hopefully the version of the LMC5 that you have has the provisions for the brown wire mod. The early versions from about 2012 through sometime in 2014 did NOT.
It does, purchased 9/2015 -
However, unless I'm reading the instructions wrong, it notes you must have the column lock relay above the ECM. I dont have this relay. I had the GM mod, so they may have removed it or maybe mine is an earlier 1998. Will the brown wire still work?
Per instructions..."The optional steps are ONLY if you continue to see the Pull key, wait 10 secs.....AND your C5 has the steering column lock relay located above the BCM..."
