A couple of days ago I noticed a small gap between my rear window and the top(looking out the rearview mirror). I was a little worried but I figured it could be fixed!!!! Two days latter it's all but fallen off(if not for the safety ties). I ran over to the dealer, they sent over to the local upolstry shop, who said........ you need to repace the whole top.....WHAT!!!
something about the laminating process used to afix (glue/seal) the glass to the canvas!
The top is in perfect condition otherwise!!! were talk'n $1100.00for an after market top !
Re: covertible owners: rear window falling off (so.txvette)
happened to a buddy of mine, just not all the way off...a local upholsterer was able to glue it back in for the time being. You can get the top for $500 new, so don't pay too much if you replace it. You can sometimes find them on a frame assembly as well (eBay) which means you could put it on yourself easily and not have to pay huge labor costs...
Best of luck,
Josh

Re: covertible owners: rear window falling off (PaceThis)
That's me that Josh is talking about. It happened to me when I was about 200 miles from home. By the time I got home, the glass was all but completely out of my top. I contacted the manufacturer. They recommended that I glue the glass back in, which I did. Then a local upholsterer filled in around the edge of the top and the glass with black caulking. That's been well over a year ago and it's still in relatively good condition. I don't recall the glue that I used, but can find out for you if you need. It was a PITA to get glued in, to say the least but well worth it considering the cost to replace the top. Email me if you need some help/pointers....
