Default ? suspension damage

I have a 2003 conv. with the new magna ride suspension. The dealer forgot to remove the suspension spacers on the rear shock shafts, which are used to prevent damage (to body work?) during shipping. I drove the car about 70 miles, which was to my house from the dealer, not knowing they were in place. The car of course would bottom out with dips and bumps on the spacers. Through the forum, I found the problem and corrected it. I wanted to know if I could have damaged the shocks or suspension. The dealer says no, but they have a vested interest in that position since it was their fault to begin with. Chevy customer (or lack there of) service was of no help and kept referring me back to the dealer, rather than being helpful and referring my question to an engineer or tech from the factory. Any ideas?

You didn't hurt anything, just got a rough ride. They are only put in there for shipment on railroad. They tie down the car real tight on the rail car shipments. Keeps car from bouncing up and hitting roof on the rail car. Without electric power the shocks have no resistance. I talked with GM people in Monterey about this since my dealer left all 4 in ours. First thing wife said after driving it home 40 miles was "that new suspension is rough". I then told her that the salesman had called me on the road to ask if we would bring the car back so they could remove the spacers. She now loves to ride in the car and drive it also!
