Default 98 coupe blackwing question

What size coupler is needed for the Blackwing to connect the intake to the maf?
Is the stock one fine ? Bought an intake but doesn't have the coupler.

This comes up once in a while.

I had a response in a previous thread

The difference is in the rubber that fits it to the car. The early cars have the coupler that is stepped down to be smaller on the engine side. The later cars have a coupler that is the same size on both end so it is more or less just a rubber hose. The early cars have a 3.5" MAF (uses the stepped down coupler) and the later cars have a 4" MAF (uses the straight coupler).

Mine had both couplers with it when I got it used. I don't know if it originally came that way. If you have the early coupler, all you need is a section of the right size hose to connect it.

Good luck.

So I'd need a 3.5x 4 inch reducer?

I think that is correct.

To verify, put a scale across the two parts you are connecting.

Good luck.

I put one on my '98. I had to put a later model MAF on the car to make it work.

I also had to get an adaptor wire from racetronix to hook up to the new MAF. My car was scheduled for a tune and it was re calibrated for the larger MAF and intake.
