Default service soon?

i bought my vette with 15,000 miles on the clock it now has 17500.
my panel is flashing "service vehicle soon" what service do i need? the manual says nothing much other than an oil change ( allready did that) and some smog work.
how vital is this service and what does it involve?

Something is amiss with your car. You should first check the codes to try and get an idea of what may be wrong. To check the codes, click on the link below and follow the procedure to bring up any diagnostic codes and write them down. Post them here and folks will pipe in to let you know what they indicate.

A trip to the dealer may be in your near future. :(

Did you reset the oil service on the DIC when you changed the oil? My guess is that the oil monitor was not reset to zero at the time of your oil change. To reset just bring up the oil life percent on your DIC and hold down "reset" until it changes to zero.

I've had the same problem since I hit 16500. I now have 17300. Seems to pop up every 100 miles. Oil has been changed, DIC reset, Coolant flushed and serviced, and NO codes.

Looks like I'll take mine into the dealer sometime this week and see what they come up with.
